Overview
The Dividend Analysis template (click to download) can be used for the following purposes:
- Analyze company dividend payments over 5, 10,15 year lookback periods
- Determines whether a company has decreased it's dividend over the given lookback periods
- Determines whether a company has consistently paid dividends over the given lookback period
Below is an example section of the Dividend Analysis report:
How it works
1. Enter the Securities
On the "Dividend Analysis" tab, enter the securities that you'd like to analyze in the cells highlighted blue in column B and hit "Refresh" on the YCharts tab.
2. Print or Save the report as a PDF
First, click the "Dividend Analysis" tab to view the report. To print or save the report as a PDF, click the File button. Select Print or Export to save as a PDF.
*PLEASE NOTE: Do not delete or add any rows in the spreadsheet. Only delete the contents within a cell. This will ensure the spreadsheet will calculate all the data properly.
Specifications and Details
Error 1
If at any point during the given lookback period a security decreases their dividend amount, it will fail to pass.
Error 2
If at any point during the given lookback period a security misses a payment or is late on a payment, it will fail. For quarterly payers, if there is a gap between payments of greater than 120 days, it will fail. For monthly payers, a gap of more than 45 days between dividends. For semi-annual payers, a gap of more than 210 days between dividends. For annual payers, a gap of more than 395 days between dividends.
Additionally, if the company has not been paying a consistent dividend for the entire length of the lookback period, it will fail.
Error 3
Error 3 occurs when a security has failed to pass both criteria listed above.
